Something Left, Something Taken is a marvelous animated short film about a cute couple who believe they might be in the company of the Zodiac Killer while visiting San Francisco. It's darkly funny and inventively executed, blending different types of animation, including stop motion, live-action puppetry, and hand drawn. It ends up with a lively, colorful and handcrafty feel. I'm especially fond of the cardboard props and scenery.

It was made by Brooklyn-based team Tiny Inventions. They've posted a ‘making of' on their blog, so have a look-see.
